Care instructions for knitwear

Wool is undemanding. Less washing, more airing.

The heavy knitwear from Andersen & Andersen is made of pure new wool.
Wool is naturally self-cleaning and antibacterial.
Frequent washing is neither necessary nor advisable – fresh air is usually perfectly sufficient.

Washing Wash only when necessary. Airing out in fresh air is usually sufficient.
Washing method Hand wash cold or at a maximum of 30 °C.
Detergent Mild wool detergent, no fabric softener.
Machine washing Not recommended. If unavoidable: wool cycle, cold, low spin speed.
Spinning Do not wring. Gently squeeze out excess water.
Drying Dry flat on a towel, reshape while damp.
Tumble dry Do not tumble dry.
Ironing Do not iron. If necessary, only steam carefully.
Airing Regular airing maintains freshness and shape.
Pilling Possible initially. Remove with a wool comb or by hand – not a defect.
Storage Store folded, do not hang. Protect against moths.

The Sailor Turtleneck by Andersen & Andersen is a medium-weight, symmetrical knit sweater with a clear purpose. Developed for use in cold weather, this model has been worn for years by crews and students on the Danish training ship – designed for warmth, durability, and reliability.

Made from pure, new virgin wool from Corriedale sheep in Patagonia. The yarn is dyed and spun in Italy, then knitted and linked there as well. The compact, fully fashioned construction on a flat knitting machine ensures high shape retention and a long service life.

The half-cardigan stitch gives the sweater structure and substance, while reinforced assemblies with bar tacks secure the areas subject to the most wear. Extended sleeve cuffs with thumb holes enhance comfort in cold and windy conditions.
