About the materials that Manifattura Ceccarelli uses for its superb clothing
CASENTINO WOOL CLOTH
In the areas where I live, on the border between Romagna and Tuscany, there has been a great tradition of spinning and weaving wool since the time of the Etruscans.
The identifying item of this tradition has always been the so-called "Casentino cloth"; the quality of the 100% pure virgin wool yarn, the particular, highly beaten texture, the subsequent finishing process, and the wool fiber used make this fabric particularly resistant, naturally water-repellent, capable of not conveying a feeling of dampness, and retaining its characteristic thermal properties even when wet. The "Casentino cloth" was the wool fabric used in ancient times to make capes for shepherds, coats for wagoners, and blankets for draft horses. The wool used comes from sheep that have not been subjected to "mulesing".
100% Pure Virgin Wool
The thermal insulating material used as padding in Manifattura Ceccarelli garments consists of 100% pure virgin wool, with full respect for nature and animals.
Wool has always been the best thermal insulator existing in nature; it does not deteriorate over time and retains its properties unchanged. Naturally water-repellent and hygroscopic, as it transports sweat from the body to the outside without becoming saturated, it retains its warmth even when wet and keeps body heat constant. From sheep not treated with "mulesing".
Bemberg Cupro
Bemberg is the brand of Cupro, a regenerated cellulose fiber made from cotton.
Cotton linters, a fluff around the seed that is not normally used as a fiber, are transformed through a maturation and dissolution process into pure regenerated fiber, from which Bemberg/Cupro fabric is made. Although derived from cotton, Bemberg is a continuous, very fine, silk-like fiber with an almost round cross-section and a smooth surface that does not irritate the skin. Bemberg also has important breathability properties, as it quickly absorbs moisture released through micro-holes invisible to the naked eye. In this absorption process, Bemberg generates thermal energy, which creates warmth especially when combined with another insulating fiber like wool. Bemberg consists of a natural fiber and is 100% biodegradable.
Waxed Cotton
This is the fabric with which Manifattura Ceccarelli has been producing its winter pieces for many years.
It is a 10-ounce poplin fabric made of 100% double-twisted cotton yarn that is very resistant to wear and abrasion and is made water-repellent by a dipping treatment in molten paraffin tanks. This is the fabric with which Manifattura Ceccarelli has been producing its winter pieces for many years. This fabric makes Manifattura Ceccarelli garments water-repellent, comfortable, and particularly suitable for use in the country and in the city.
Dry Cotton
Perfect for creating very comfortable and durable garments.
It is an 8-ounce poplin fabric made of 100% double-twisted cotton yarn that is very resistant to wear and abrasion and is made water-repellent by a treatment with paraffin wax before spinning, which makes the fabric particularly soft, light, breathable, and slightly distressed, perfect for the production of very comfortable and resistant garments.
Light Dry Cotton
Particularly suitable for the production of light, resistant, and water-repellent garments.
It is a light 6oz fabric made of 100% double-twisted cotton yarn. Particularly suitable for the production of light, resistant, and water-repellent garments. The water repellency is achieved by a treatment with sprayed paraffin particles on the cotton fiber before spinning. This makes this fabric perfect for the production of garments that can be worn in spring or autumn on rainy days. This fabric is produced exclusively for Manifattura Ceccarelli garments.
